A nice new feature dropped into our laps last week in XM Cloud Page Builder.
The feature, called Layers, is accessible in the left panel next to Pages and Components and gives content editors a way of explicitly selecting individual fields for editing.
Previously, this was a pain point for many users as they sometimes found it difficult to select the correct field they were trying to edit, especially with text boxes and CTAs sometimes having multiple layers very close to each other and difficult to click between in the editor pane.
Now, selecting or hovering over an element on the page canvas highlights that element within the hierarchy, and now you can add, remove, move, and reorder components and containers directly in the new tab, according to the placeholder rules that are set up for the page.
It might seem like a small update to the more technically savvy among us, but from delivering a number of client trainings on XM Cloud, I can tell you that this is something that content editors will eat up!
